Health Sciences Continuing Education Package

If you are sitting for the IBLCE Exam for the first time, you are required to complete several health sciences courses, unless you are a licensed health care provider. Click here to see the IBLCEs Health Sciences Education Guide.

If you are not a licensed health care provider and have not yet completed any of these courses, you will have to take some college level courses to complete this requirement. However, not all of these courses have to be taken at a college. There are six courses which may be completed at an institution of higher education or via a continuing education provider. These courses are:

  • Basic Life Support
  • Medical Documentation
  • Medical Terminology
  • Occupational Safety and Security for Health Professionals
  • Professional Ethics for Health Professionals
  • Univeral Safety Precautions and Infection Control

It is highly likely that it will be much more cost effective for you to complete these courses via a continuing education provider than a college. Breastfeeding Outlook is an IBLCE-approved continuing education provider and our Health Sciences Continuing Education Package will fulfill the requirement for five of these six courese. We do not cover Basic Life Support. You can get your Basic Life Support course via a local resource like the Red Cross, local health departments, fire departments, or sheriff offices.

You can expect to spend approximately 8 hours completing the five programs in the package.
